Recently returned drummer of Coheed and Cambria, Josh Eppard is releasing a new EP with his hip hop project Weerd Science and I could not be more psyched. Their last album, Sick Kids, was created with the help of their amazing fans through the artist funding website KickStarter. (I designed the hoodies for that one, exciting little tidbit.) And now they’re all set to release this new ep and it just makes me so happy to know that even though Josh is back with his ‘heed family, he is still continuing on with Weerd Science, creating music which houses a blend of amazing beats, and strong straight from the heart lyrics that heavily express the depths of his personal trials, tribulations, and triumphs. (holy alliteration, Batman) He doesn’t just rap about some of the nonsense you hear in today’s hip hop. His music is completely underrated, deep lyrical art. True art. He tells stories, life experience. Every song resonates on a different level depending on the listener. I guarantee, even if the genre isn’t your thing, anyone can catch a vibe from this band and appreciate what they have to offer. True talent.. so do NOT sleep on them or the new EP, you’ll be missing out. Promise.
It’s just about 7 am and as I finally get to sleep (don’t ask), I’d like to not only extend a wonderful mother’s day to all the mothers (and fathers) out there…. but I’d like to wish an extra special mother’s day to my own mother, Sandra, whose birthday also happens to be today. Every day I count myself a very lucky human being to have someone with whom I can fully share my life and being. Someone who has not only fully supported every single life decision and personal endeavor/goal I’ve faced, but has gone above and beyond to do whatever was in HER power to help me attain it. We have a very unique bond and friendship that I can not imagine a mother and daughter ever living without. We are able to talk and argue and laugh and goof around and I cherish each day I get to call her my mom. Those of you who know her, know that she is the most adorable, awesome, hilarious, CARING and LOVING little firecracker munchkin to ever exist. I truly thank you, madre, for being you. And I love you more than anything.
